In Our Image

Where are you, my son
Where have you gone?
How I long for you,
How I long to be with you!

It has been too long
The heart cries out for you.
That very first day
The first day I formed you
You were beautiful and magnificent
The pinnacle of all my creation
You loved me
And I loved you -
And together,
We were meant to be happy together!

But I look for you now,
I call to you - as though you were an alien.
I seek your face, the one that has departed from me
In shame and misery
Lo! My son, now I find you, weeping and mourning with your wife
Your back side turned
And now you can't speak to me.
And now you lie to me.

I formed you in our image
In our image, man was formed
His heart,
The eternal reflection of my love -
To love and to behold
To love and to hold
To love and to be held.

And now I stroll through the valleys
And I breeze past the mountains -
The garden is not the same,
Without you my son.
