How To (I) Write

To write is an art, a contextualization of emotions, the conjuring up of vivid images or a silent description of a that that is bygone. To write is to uphold, to create, to illustrate, to bring to life one’s dreams, hopes, visions, understandings or theorems to coincide with where the reader is coming from and to take them where we want them to go.

To write is to undertake, to sit in shoes too big to fit or ones too tight we can hardly breath. To write is to bear, to give life to a concept or vivid contraption meant to move as many hearts as can be moved with each sentence. To write is to hold, to hold our attention, just as the cinema holds our gaze.

I write as a poet does, round and round in circles until the idea is conceptualized and carried on in one’s soul. I write to grow, that my ideas may one day take shape and find life, coming into a world too unfulfilling for them. I write to pass on, I write to create, to capture, to birth into and to articulate what cannot be captured with mere lines and sentences. I write to fulfill my obligation on this earth. I write because it is my job, my calling, my purpose. I write to fulfill that. And I hope that – the day I am taken from this world will coincide with the day I stop writing. To trudge on is an art field I don’t want to let go of.
